XXV - Every Kindness, Every Favor

by Austin Halling-Rowe

How do I put this thought to words?
That every kindness, every favor, given or received,
However small, however great,
In friendship, in love, in deed,
Gives me silent thought of you—
But no, not that they make
Me pray such simple favors flowed,
Between our bondled hearts,
Yes, perhaps! But simply that
They give me thought of you;
Across the dizzy ends of hell our souls
Are now condemned.
Not these gifts from you, unknown,
Gives me silent ecstasy of longing.
