Toward the Hummingbirds

by Alison McKenzie

It starts with a breath,
The first of many numbered events,
Condensed to moments,
Zipped memories.

Unlock destiny,
Take each step in cadence,
Dance,
Love,
Breathe and breathe and breathe.

It ends with a breath
Escaping
To float toward the humming birds.

A simple, put powerful spiritual message. And a worthy reminder to stop and smell the flowers, or even better drink from them as the hummingbirds do. And yes, don't forget to take a deep breath when the world has us panting fast as hummingbird wings.
