The Children on the Shore by Austin Halling-RoweDid i leave?
Did i leave you?
Did i leave you anything?
Did the azure sun seem
To shine on my days
or
Did my life seem wasted
Like mens lives in useless war...
Did the silent mouths of
My non-posterity offend you?
Like it offended me
The children on the shore...
Did you think i lived just for me?
Did i?
Leave you - anything? 01/07/2011 Author's Note: Some women thought of me as a father for their children. Not a great accomplishment. Even amoebas can reproduce!

Posted by Scott Utley on 01/26/11 at 08:23 PM Go ahead and make me feel as if you don't even care! (huh?) I love this jarring reflection of my own mortality; it's dreariness, as well as it's eternal essence. I loved the whole piece. |
