New Year's Eve

by Steve Michaels

the new year approaches with
impetuous glee
what will become of me?

days march on like
spiders treading toward
unprotected skin
each time I blink

a new year begins

I would shed the road
I tread
if I had the go- ahead

regrets?
I've had my share

this new year
one more albatross
to bear

Without wine the whole world sucks. But you have a daughter and that should be worth something!

A short but well stated piece I'm sure we all can relate to. Excellent (powerful) close off also in that last stanza. Glad I had the opportunity to read it. Continued success with your writing in 2011 Michael.
