XX - In a Sea of Drowning Dreams

by Austin Halling-Rowe

You watched--I know--as I smashed my beaten bow,
On rocks and reefs, in gales of my own grief,
A wandering bark without a guiding star,
In a sea of Drowning Dreams.
You reached--I feel--as I drifted without vision--
Without the purpose god grants those he loves--
In the stillness of my shame,
In the stagnant realm of rains and discontent.
You pulled--I'm sure--as I abandoned the founder'd hulk,
The vessel that I built, that I called Life, 'called Joy,
For I no longer believed her deserving of any sea,
Nor I worthy of her command.
You now hold the torch--I see--beyond oblivion,
And I need stray--my guide--no further.

Has a nice classic feel to it.

There's an honesty mixed with curiosity that I just love in this.
