Steppenwolf Strummin

by Ryan Nardi

You are a part of the machine.
There is no heart in the machine.
There is no mind with which to remember
what it once was.

If you find yourself feeling clean,
look down the vine at the other beans.
There are some who cannot climb
out of the mud.

There's no design that could be gleaned.
The plans of minds are only dreams.
There may be a fine Republic
on the sun.

I can't decide where I'd rather be.
I'm torn between clean water and peace.
I like my house but I hate the street
that I live on.

I took a torch to go follow me.
I know Nietzsche and Jesus won't bother me.
I know they teach us to teach ourselves
to teach everyone.

I am a part of the machine.
It breaks my heart to feel so clean
when I know that I wouldn't be
without liquid soap.

nice flow to this.

Gotta agree with Mr. Crimson. There's a great flow, movement to this thing. I also really like the last stanza.

I liked the particular beat to each stanza, the odd bits, the line - "looking down the vine at other beans" (my fav), as are S1 and S4.
