Upon Eyes by Jody PrattTo focus on just one
is still enough
to shatter reality.
For each has such poise
in its subtle awe,
with chapter and verse.
An entire world embedded
in a white universe.
A protective ocean
fends off the cosmos
with deep intimidation.
Sparkling waves cast tide,
on a string
of rebellious sandy islands.
A shallow sea
parts the rebels
from expanse.
A dusty landmass
emulates abandonment,
personifies adventure,
and disintegrates my armor.
A circular mountain range,
folding itself along the way,
races to elevation.
A sudden sink in my heart
reflects my trip and fall.
I danced to the edge,
to have an endless darkness
almost swallow me whole.
I peer anxiously,
expecting something magnificent,
to burst from this volcano.
Suddenly your pupil dilates and
a script rips across the skies.
I find myself looking up at you,
as I watch these words scroll across your eyes. 08/01/2010 Posted on 11/29/2010 Copyright © 2024 Jody Pratt

Posted by Philip F De Pinto on 11/27/11 at 02:00 PM This work has a lot of Dantesque qualities working for it, in that it is at once intriguing and captivating and egging us through various dusky chambers toward the light, which is plentifully supplied in the Sky or in the eyes upon which this ode is based or inspired. |
