Thanksgiving Afternoon by Kristina Woodhillgreenhouse tightly skinned
one hole, ground level corner
tip of black cat's tail
juncos hide and seek
black heads flirt, pecking flecked seed
back door mat, feathered
stringless, puffed soaring
one magpie alights on fence
helium cold winds
turkey stock simmers
windows fog, outside unclear
mice burrow closer
letters build, add words
dictionary on table
outside, ice scrabbles

Posted by Ken Harnisch on 11/27/10 at 05:27 AM All that was missing was the image of a fog of breath in the crisp Autumn air...You make us see it all, Kristina |
Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 11/27/10 at 10:47 PM These observations are like a big over-stuffed chair...comfy, faniliar, and not at all demanding of anything...Delighted. Thanks. |
