Skeletal

by V. Blake

and with that, i was gone.

with eyes throwing knives
until any struck home,
not waiting for shouts
to bleed out on the floor,
i crawled like a rumor
all low out the back
with a dead man's dream
and a long list of names.

i stole from liars and ghosts.
i saw a little girl spend
her last hour of youth
trying too hard
to grow up too fast.

she wanted to trade
her diamonds for smoke,
and i helped her do it.

one day,
i'll get lost in the concept
of chaos as method
and i'll let scorched earth
become common ground.

just you watch.

This is super-tasty: i crawled like a rumor all low out the back with a dead man's dream and a long list of names.

The 'little girl lost' passage of writes elevates this above clipboard status, for me anyway.
A query -- I don't see the 'Barter System' joint venture in your collection(?); I guess you have reasons (altruism considered), but just to say that it would have gathered positives from me, if I'd found it here :>

Between "not waiting for shouts to bleed out on the floor, i crawled like a rumor" and the last stanza... Brilliant phrases. I'm not sure this is in the right folder, just saying.

Oh sugar...this is one of your finest pieces...so much so it almost hurts to read, hurts to comprehend but all in all, it's still you, still echoing with that essence that is an inherently talented testimonial...kick me if I ever wait too long to read something this good.

Been away awhile and this is the first poem I read. What a frieght train of cruel rails. My favorite line"...and i'll let scorched earth become common ground." Hell will one day greet those that tempt Her! Brilliant piece Vince.
