Sea Oat Medallions

by James Zealy

Sea Oat Medallions
Cast circular misdirections
Where the path of choice
Has an element of indecision

Settled just below a bleu celeste horizon
Stretching arching towards its sea salt
Pool of emerald wavelets
Yet the path is not clear

If I traverse right
Will I see a brilliant painted landscape?
If I traverse left will I stumble
Due to my indecision?

I seize and tremor with fear
Associated with a route
That I must select
While I stand petrified

I take the steps and accept
The fate of my actions
While I pray for guidance
And find the destination is the same

Insight for miles and just as much creativity. Really enjoyed this.

"Where the path of choice Has an element of indecision" Well, that about sums it up for me.

For real though--everything Gabe said is spot on.

If this poem reflects life's experiences(based on your stated beliefs on poetry origins), then I wish you the best and hope it works out.But if the destination is the same, then what does it matter? This poem poses hard thought provoking questions. (and very well written)

I wasn't able to respond to your message and I don't want you to think I am ignoring you.I'll explain later....it is amazing what an image can spawn!(I do appreciate the explanation to my query) :)

There is an interesting mix of the timid human worrying and maybe just wondering about the next step one takes, and the concept of fate. I, too, and not sure how the last line fits here, unless you speak of the ultimate Destination meaning death. The first stanza is lovely - I am a big fan of northern sea oats, but do not know if this is the same thing. I like the use of the word "Frozen" - in that phrase, and can relate to those moments of indecision with so many choices at hand. Thanks for this.
