Life Is But a Game of Chess

by Tomás Ó Cárthaigh

It is just a game they say
There is nothing to prove
A pawn a rook to win or lose
It matters not... but its your move

Life is but a chess game
Each move is to wield a sword
And you may lose or you may win
The Dance of the Chequered Board

To play or not you have no choice
You must make a move each day
There is no timelimit in this game
The Chess Game of Life we play.

You hooked me on this one. I used to play a lot of chess many years ago. I was a decent player when I was in high school but I haven't played in a long time. Good write.

Great stuff, man.

I love your philosophical attitude which this ode has in spades. And speaking of chess, in my day I carved many a chess piece out of ivory soap, the board included which always took the shape of castles.
