a Robert Duncan

by Charlie Morgan

an old man man asked me,
'was i a Robert Duncan pictograph?'

a painting that made people
look real, like a picture.

i thought for a moment, then
i said, 'i'm not sure.'

i asked him, 'are you?'
he replied, 'used to be.'

Clever in the Morganese style and so apt at pulling me in to the picture and sending me to Wikipedia for instruction on Duncan. I must look up more of his work because I have an affinity for the Beats. Still savoring Ginsberg's little book: Howl. Thanks buddy.
