the years by Shirin Swift
the years widen between us and our vows
we are like clouds
you climb with your shadow to the top
to drink with the moon and the sun
our time follows the river out of the room
testing the air for the used book smell
sea salt air and summer holidays past
the originals were destroyed in the war
but I keep secret copies in my heart
