The Dagger in my Heart That you Call Modern Art

by Gabe Zamora

Love at first sight, shine through
sweet light and rain down the glory
that is your story and give me your name
just to keep my sane, I fall ever faster
where is my ever after? Or can I not share
the light with angels? Give me a shot, but
not through the heart. These are my words on
paper your love is the razor that pierces my
soul no more control, cannot stand to be away
but yet we remain. You ended us but yet I
wanted to trust you would change and all would
be well, but blinded was I by the feelings
inside that cruel cruel artistry that is
the power of ignorance that I would give
myself the chance to be broken again. These
are my words on paper ripped to shreds by
the razor in which you carve your name on
the masterpiece of shattered remain. I give
I give, I just ask that you remove the pain
from my chest as it grows harder to rest and
I gave it my best to forget that test that I
seemed to fail. The dagger in my heart that
you call modern art bleeds true as you never
knew it would, nor did I but now we see how
agonizing your decisions can be and while my
thoughts are muddled and my emotions in
puddles, my lines grow weak and my structure
depletes. This is my soul on paper.
