sweet alone by Maria Francescalike rain from stormy skies
like salty tears
from bloodshot eyes
like waterfalls
they tumble down
just one more word -
I know I'll drown
they fall unchecked from heedless lips
like dancers' feet
they whirl and trip
attacking me with hellish din
they scar my mind
they grate my skin
I'd give the world
I'd sell my soul
to find an isolated hole
one lovely instant's bless'd surcease
one silent moment
wrapp'd in peace
a minute's quiet atmosphere -
for this, I'd cut my life a year
so as you start to dial my number
ring my doorbell
stop my slumber
as you lift your hand to knock
please let me beg you, friend,
to stop
and know that as a new day blooms
and sunlight fills my lonely rooms
I'm sure I'll long to hear your voice
and join you in your joyful noise
but now I need this velvet hush
this perfect stillness
dark and lush
so out of friendship
go back home
and leave me

Posted by George Hoerner on 08/29/10 at 06:36 PM Way to lovely to wake you just to say how nice it is. But when you wake I'll shout it. Take care lady. |
Posted by Rhiannon Jones on 08/29/10 at 09:53 PM I hear it and I feel it and I love it. |
