mosques and criminals

by Jared Fladeland

there is nothing in this universe purely evil,
nor anything pure good.

especially a building, that is no more
than bricks and cement,
walls and wood and steel.

especially a religion,
which is at most words on a page
or stories told through time,
meant to bring people together
to live a moral life.

even a person is neither good or bad
until their actions
either harm or benefit those around them.

and to judge someone who has done
absolutely nothing harmful
because of a label they are attached to,
is just partaking in the same hatred
that got us here in the first place.

Author's Note: I should say, completely inspired by Daniel Ridge's Mosque @ Ground Zero
