Latent by George Hoernerlatent in the day is the night
the Greeks came and it was good
and they were right
and learning was good
and the gods died and it was good
killed by the Romans and it was bad
we all became Romans and it was good
we all play as we fiddle
he stood in the big T in front of the tank
and he was good
and the driver drove and he was good
the two planes flew and took a bite
from the Big Apple and they were good
and the people cried and it was good
and in the good was the bad
and the pros prostituted
and they were bad but
being bad they were good
the sun shone and it was good
and the glaciers melted
and it was bad
and the immigrants came
america was born and it was good
and the immigrants came
america was dying and it was bad
kill all the immigrants and all
would be well
kill all immigrants and america would die
and it would be good
along side the road he lay
starvation watched and it was bad
the bones were left and it was good
the cries came and it was good
the tears fell and it was bad
they weren’t heard and it was bad
but the good came and it was bad
but the bad came and it was good
the Queens, Princes, and fags all came
and it was good for they all came
the medicine came and it was good
there was no money
and it was bad
but oil flowed and it was good
into the Gulf and it was bad
we fixed it and we fixed it
and we fixed it and
it was good
for there was money
and it was good
and we fought for it
and it was good
we killed for it and it was good
we were duped and it was bad
we built buildings and it was good
and the buildings became our penis
and it was bad
they flopped and they were bad
but the drugs came and they were good
latent in the night is the day

Posted by Paul Lastovica on 07/23/10 at 06:12 PM lots of stuff upon stuff in this - all good, all bad. the dual nature of the world, and the world of man; the world of decision and indecision. I'm reeling, and will read again, and again - and it is good. =) |
Posted by Joan Serratelli on 07/23/10 at 09:11 PM I like the ying and yang going on. In a perfect world, Good ALWAYS prevails. Really wonderful work. |
Posted by Max Bouillet on 07/27/10 at 12:37 AM It is the duality of all nature. How would we know the good if it weren't for the bad? Current and relevant. Thanks for sharing. |
Posted by Glenn Currier on 03/06/11 at 02:05 PM As I read this, I felt the confusion so familiar when I get caught in the vortex of judgment and the sensationalism of the media - that I lap up all too readily. You DO say so much here, George. It is a profound piece. Much to chew on and digest. Thanks for the provoke. |
