the queen of hearts fell for the mad hatter

by Kimberly Bare

Paint the roses red.

No
yet again i despair
and question my choices.

What i once cherished
is shattering
and suddenly
off-with-their-head
red
is discomforting.

On second thought,
paint the roses
purple.

Flounce the feathers
and return the royalty
along with the silver.

The teapot has gone missing
again and this
damn cake
is choking me up.

Nice way to twist our little Alice! Your wonderland is filled with mixed emotions and madness. There is a sense of a dream turning nightmarish drenched in uncertainity. Fascinating read.

A wonderful take off on the "Wonderland of Alice and her friends". I suspect in the past year or two many Americans are seeing their own land through different colored glasses.

Hey Kim, or maybe better...paint the roses blue. In agreement with Max, I like what you've done here, personal madness nicely captured.
