be as a tall blade of grass by Jared Fladelandbe as a tall blade of grass,
allow yourself to sway with the wind, not against it
so that when you are crushed down, you will eventually raise,
after you are cut down, you will eventually grow;
when people lay upon you, you support them,
yet when no one is around, you stand tall, rooted to the earth
but always stretched up towards heaven.
never allow any outside force
to pull you up from your foundation,
so that no matter how much the universe tries to amputate
your spirit,
you will always grow back, dancing in the wind. 07/15/2010 Author's Note: i've begun to write with a daoist mind using correlative logic, comparing something else in nature to the human condition.

Posted by Glenn Currier on 07/19/10 at 04:53 PM I have read the Taoteching for years and have really gotten a lot from this vision of life and the world. I love you poem and enjoyed the sense of union with the earth and the soul. Thanks and good luck on this leg of your journey. |
