Chateauneuf de Pape by Jeffrey ParrenI grabbed the bottle
filled the two glasses
I had fetched
from the cabinet
made of cherry wood
with windows in the front
with some
Chateauneuf de Pape
that was almost
as luscious as you
this fine day
that danced toward night
as sunset
turned to fireplace
the glow of the fire
bouncing off our bodies
as shadows danced
on the walls behind
as earthy aromas
perplexed the palette
as fruit-forward ecstasy
paid homage
to those French grapes
what else is there to need
on this romantic getaway? 06/27/2010 Posted on 06/27/2010 Copyright © 2025 Jeffrey Parren

| Posted by George Hoerner on 06/27/10 at 01:21 PM Ah Jeffrey, I hear someone long ago say, "a loaf of bread, a jug of wine and thou"... It sounds like paradise to me. Good write. |

| Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 06/28/10 at 01:16 AM Lovely to read of you serving yourself and companion - a nice departure from the waiter, although the wine still seems to play an important part for you. |
