you can't stand the truth by Charlie Morganthe truth tires of being foisted as a battlement.
your ego placed precariously on the edge of dark;
would you see the frayed edges of every mirror;
that's the real you, the image is to fool you.
you live only in my mind, nothing more or less;
you live because i live, again nothing more; less.
planet Antares grins at our invisibility. laughs.
as i do yours. get thee behind me, knave, i shout!
i, i, i am the lead in this Shakesperaean drama;
appear on stage when i say to and leave as soon!
be off, or thy head will be a stranger to your neck.
ok, a little Cervantes to awake the sleepers.
the truth is insignificance. a dance partner no one wants;
and a shine of water's surface, breaking the sunset.
making way for me to awake, rise for the day; therefore,
i give you life, my mirror of you breathes existence. 06/18/2010 Posted on 06/18/2010 Copyright © 2026 Charlie Morgan

a wonder to me
eight pairs of lines
a lie takes the knee...
Love it darlin. "being foisted as a battlement" required me to find sight as the shock of three D glasses suddenly perched upon my normal astigmatism... Love it, love it, love it.

| Posted by Joe David on 06/19/10 at 04:10 AM "but enough about you, more about me" - as someone I know used to say. I'll just be your sancho, cervantes. una mas cervesa por favor. well, truth is a heavy topic to be tossing around.
"And the lonely voice of youth cries "What is truth?"" - Big John Cash.
""What is truth?" Pilate asked. With this he went out again to the Jews and said, "I find no basis for a charge against him." (John 18:38)
Anyway I do hope you wake tomorrow because I ain't through yet, at least I don't think I am. Guess I will find out tomorrow - or not. Kepp 'em coming Bro. |
| Posted by Therese Elaine on 06/22/10 at 02:45 PM Don the Quixote and Damn the Yankees and let it all go down in Das Boot, because The Hurricane destroyed the mirror's calm -so we'll all just Mutiny on the Bounty while the rest of them are enjoying a Monte Cristo. |

| Posted by Steven Kenworthy on 06/24/10 at 04:17 PM to me, you are one of the few classically imaged, old school style poets. i can learn from your work...i'm a stubborn student and probably from an entirely different world, but pieces like this make me feel like i'm dipping back into the libraries of the trailblazers. |
| Posted by Morgan D Hafele on 06/26/10 at 01:48 AM "the truth is insignificance. a dance partner no one wants" and isn't that just the truth? |
| Posted by Ken Harnisch on 06/28/10 at 02:14 PM Ain't this the plain and simple truth of things, Charlie? |
