Soapy Salvation by Anastasia ShowsWe bathed in our lavatory lagoon,
and baptized each other in suds.
I shampooed Jesus Christ
into your scalp,
rinse.
repeat.
and as the conditioner sat in your hair,
detangling and smoothing
away your worries,
you whispered the beatitudes to me
and shaved my legs ever so
gently.
Meanwhile, i brushed my hair
absent-minded and made
crosses with the strays that
i shed.
A sudden slip,
a cut
drop.
drip.
of blood into the water,
and you scampered off to
retrieve a bandage for
my wound.
you shrouded me in cotton
as the pink water drained.
drip.
another drop of blood
for our sins.
