A Night Gone to the Dogs

by Maude Curtis

I wake up with the covers all tangled.
A dog on his side and one on mine.
It's really difficult to move
with 12 legs all entwined.

Should I give them both a little shove
to get them back on the floor?
But I hate to be so harsh
to the puppies we both adore.

So I lay here with my legs in a cramp
not disturbing their slumber so deep.
This night has really gone to the dogs
and I'll never get back to sleep.

Author's Note: How can 2 small dogs take up so much room. Maybe we need a bigger bed.

Ha! Clever and relatable - we have cats. A king bed is recommended. :)

How sweet is this! A motherly instinct is alive in this piece...I love the 12 legs image...gone to the dogs indeed...a pleasure to read and smile about...peace to u, jewels xo
