Goodbye Mr Bear

by JJ Johnson

Tonight, Mr Bear is layin next to me
I wonder if he's thinkin about you, the way that I do
To hold you in his arms, is a distant wish come true
He must be wonderin if he'll ever lay with you

Each night, Mr Bear sleeps in our bed
He whispers in my ear, all the things I wish you said
I hold him in my arms, but my aching heart feels dead
We both keep wonderin who lays with you instead

Good morning Mr Bear, it's time for you to wake
You can't just lay there in a bed you didn't make
She's comin back for you and the things she didn't take
Don't be nervous lil one, my son, no need for you to shake
Your heart's the golden one she cannot break

Great read, JJ. Loved the imagery, that last line just crushes you. Well done :) Kat

A very nice write indeed. I've known two dogs named "bear" and thought he was in bed with you until that last line. It is a zinger!

Wonderful work on the lyrical vibe in this. I enjoyed it.

That last stanza is so fine! Thank you.
