Tumbling Orange Container

by Jared Orlando

A capsulated sea;
A pallet of mundane
Color, crawling
Closer, knees-on-
Floor, eyes-on-
Forwards, head-on-
Backwards, hands-on-
fire, tumbling small
Orange containers
Eeny,
meeny,
miny,
moe,
Meperidine,
Oxymorphone,
Fentanyl,
Methadone,
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Yes.
Leaving me with
Only the chalky shades
Of discarded skeletons
Remaining in empty
Cylinders lining
A bed unmade
A life undone
The sting..
Subsiding.

Scary stuff - I liked the use of the word "sea", the "chalky shades of discarded skeletons" - well, the lines following the series of "yes".

Downright scary, in the best literary way possible, of course.
