a Zen moment with Kai by Charlie Morganfound a flip-book of childhood dreams,
stopped midway through; life begins.
headed happily toward a tomorrow of chance,
and already full of fear today, i stare down;
capturing two blue-hazel mirrors, curious.
so i read. the author, his stories are so perfect,
rather, he makes them so. i think, i can do that.
yet, he leaves no dangling words lolling,
as they wait for their turn, like dairy cows.
keeping in check every honest answer
i give forth what is wanted to be heard;
rather tiring on the nerves that stretch
to hold and clasp my worn word's honor.
like a pirate's bullion, his smile glistens
my heart as he reaches for his granpa;
grinning, jabbering, content, he clasps
at all the tomorrows hidden in my hands.
looks up at me; tomorrow just arrived.

| Posted by Julie Adams on 04/26/10 at 06:44 AM first of all, great opening line--just lovely! This is a wonderful piece...so many fab images, like: "two hazel blue mirrors"..."they wait for their turn, like dairy cows."..."like a pirate's bullion, his smile glistens" and "he clasps/ at all the tomorrows hidden in my hands."...this piece is exquisite...I never knew my natural granpa's, but I wish I did again now...peace to u poet'pa...~jewels xo |
