Right There On Table 92

by Jeffrey Parren

I waited on you tonight
right there on table 92
you sat at position 2
and you were there
with some man
you were married to
celebrating an anniversary

with some man
he was not my father
though

I haven't looked
into your eyes for years

they were yours
I know it

resting upon a face
that resembled yours so clearly

I finished the spiel
and remembered the familiarity
where the uneasy feeling was

it was in my heart and mind
where you only exist

tonight I waited on you
right there on table 92
Lisa with your Jim
your English accent

the spitting image

it could have so easily been
me waiting on you
right there on table 92
Sharon with your Paul

I visited your grave
nearly two months passed
but tonight
somehow
you visited me Mom
in the form of another

it has been some time
since I looked into your eyes
your
eyes

tonight
right there
on table 92

memories mesmerized
and I found myself
caught
in your eyes
right
there
on table 92

This is really good! It's like a bitter sweet mini-story. I loved the sentiment of this poem. It's just lovely Jeffery.

I have to ditto the "Wow!" I loved the mystery, the depth of these eyes that would draw you to sweet memories.
