Solutions by V. Blakemaybe i could siphon my spirit
out of whichever chamber in this
arthritic little heart
proved suitably defensible
for its final stand,
and i can hope that oxidation
will counteract its blight.
but if not,
maybe there's a glass of gin
so basic as to neutralize
something even so acidic as my soul,
though i entertain no delusions
that might tempt me to believe myself
any less corroded
than my liver might suggest. 04/12/2010 Author's Note: I've missed you, Pathetic.

Posted by Gregory O'Neill on 04/13/10 at 07:28 AM Seems to me poets think more inductively. That is, poems create solution and then seek out the problems that solution might solve. Unlike the world-at-large that pretty much thinks deductively. IMHO the beauty of this poem are the options. Because believing in a solution paves the way to solution. Great to see you back. Thanks. |
Posted by George Hoerner on 04/13/10 at 12:39 PM A great write Vince. And I recall years ago sitting in the hottest bath I could stand drink a large Martini hoping it would reduce the pain of drowning. Very well done. |
