Those Kids Next Door by Jared OrlandoThe neighbor has a couple of children.
I would’ve never known
If it wasn’t for the little toy car
That they seem to put in full gear
Back and forth, in a 100-year-old home
That makes the pictures fall of the walls
Makes the floors shake with force
And you can hear the children scream
At 11 in the morning, at 11 at night
Children will be children, I suppose
But adults will also be adults
Which means toxically,
I’ll take my hammer
And I’ll pound on the wall
At 11 in the morning, at 11 at night
Nailing nothing, pounding everything
Those kids never had a chance
When they decided to move
Next door to such a gentleman

Posted by Shannon McEwen on 03/30/10 at 07:03 PM ha, as someone with 4 kids, someone without would go insane living next to me, although I'm a mean mommy and dont let them yell inside. Only I'm allowed:) |
Posted by Amie Golda on 03/31/10 at 02:39 AM A craetive way of venting your annoyance indeed. "At 11 in the morning, at 11 at night
Children will be children, I suppose
But adults will also be adults"...I love these lines right here and all the meaning they hold. The following lines also make these key lines the climax to your poem, building its rapport well.
