Open letter to Joe D.

by Charlie Morgan

a meritorious man, i hear. so.
so already i'm suspect.

he writes to challenge me,
he thinks to out-do me;

on any given day he interrupts me;
can quote a 30s Roy Acuff song,
any synoptic gospel in the Bible.

i stand clear of the man;
i need no more injuries.

his care, for me, for Carl Sagan's
billions and billions are his
biggest fault and wears heavy.

he keeps having more love,
tho' he gives-out plenty.

will you tell him,
if you see him:
his care, i wish to emulate.
tho' i am just a man.

Regardless of how many merits compiled I doubt any man could best you. Your abilities shine from this and all the other pages of yours I have scrolled away in my secret files. Good write sir.

Ah, well, it is a special joy to read your pome about our buddy, knowing well your allusions and maybe not quite so well - your illusions. I really enjoyed this one, Charlie. Thanks.

If this peripatetic poser ever checks in and reads this I'm sure he will be honored and pleased. Emulation is one thing and immolation is another so don't get them confused in the practice. Yes, you are a man, just as he must be. You both try to follow the One who called himself Son of Man, or Son of a Man as someone once suggested, because his intent was to relate. I agree with George above - I also doubt any man could best you. And Glenn's insightful contrasting of your allusions to your illusions. I am quite jealous that I did not think of it first. This is a goodun. Thanks Bro.
