The Brokenness of Me

by Amie Golda

There comes a time when you'd rather sleep
Than face the rivers that run deep
And erode the emotions that hold your soul,
In rocks that bind, but are never whole.

It's times like these my mind knows better
Than my heart and soul could ever;
Fear has taken siege
For I am forced to yield,
I feel all that is me, slipping
For, I am forever giving
In to the brokenness of me

Author's Note: A little old write I did way back when I was feeling a bit emo-ish in college. One of the few poems I have memorised by heart. This one's got a few minor edits though.

Yes. you nailed it- I can relate. You feel broken....so do I. It may be old, but nevertheless; it's an excellent write!
