just who is he? by Charlie Morganfirst there were none; bifurcation occurred.
then there were two, four, eight; ad infinitum.
scholars of bone; scholars of bronze, steel.
words barely invented yet; motions prevail.
yet, i listen. listen heartily for
the next scholar to make me a better man,
he gave me a shiver from a vision so long ago--me,
wrestling with the universe and smiling.
he gave me a hand of youth, warm with life's
pulse of 'if it's out there, i'll get it' confidence
by trusting in the same universe he was wrestling.
he's reporting to me--his life and making mine glow
with his importance. so all is well in the DNA of life.
i watch him throw words at the public that look private.
he's in the shadows.
he is the shadow.
he is shadow.

Posted by Joan Serratelli on 03/12/10 at 05:21 PM Very well put; especially the last stanza. That darn DNA- it can either make you or brake you. You are a good man Charlie. Thanks for this gem!
Posted by Glenn Currier on 03/13/10 at 05:01 PM Well, I do agree with Jean's last two sentences. You keep casting out and about the Cosmos. Methinks you know it so well you are just masquerading as Charlie Morgan for these few eternal moments - much to my delight!
Posted by Laura Doom on 03/31/10 at 11:01 AM I guess the bifurcation (as opposed to meiosis) offers a clue as who 'he' is (or isn't) -- archetypical Chaz creation, ever evolving, trailing the question in the answer...
