40/-3.5 Acre Woods

by Maude Curtis

The sign on the mailbox says 40
but we slashed it to read 3.5.
That's the acreage in our enchanted woods,
that you'll see when you enter the drive.

Down the drive and over the hill
to Mimi and Pooh's house we go.
The little stone cottage set in the woods
is far bigger than you'll ever know.

Nestled snuggley in the woods,
amongest fruit trees and more,
We now have the room to entertain
our family and friends galore.

There's a barn for Eyeore
and a "Man Cave" for Pooh.
The bouncing Tiggers of our family
will find lots of things to do.

The old farmer who built this house
is looking down on us from above,
watching and smiling to himself,
to see the old place filled with love.

So if you're ever in our neck of the woods
follow the "Burma Shave" sign
down the driveway and over the hill
stop in and share a glass of wine.

A very happy and friendly poem, and fun description of the place/people that inspired it. Nice to read something so positive for a change. Thanks for sharing this Maude. :o)
