Plague

by Curtis Sethaler

I am plague and through your veins I crawl,
I am a plague and I affect you one and all.

I change you from flesh to ash,
Leave you, Glorious figure of hope, weathered, old,
And Black.
Like a tumor I will grow in you.
My only goal. Despair.
I have no resolve left.
All people welcome then despise me.
Friends? What friends?
Leach like life takers, with greed in their eyes.
Wide eyed monsters selfishly seeking what's on their minds.

Who are you infected lost lovers....longing...
Romeo and Juliet? Victims for a cause.

I am a plague. I am a feeling fleeting.
I am what bonds man and wife.
I am a plague..
I Am Your LOVE.

The last line was a total surprise. Fascinating take on Love.

Love as a disease that ravages your body & eats you alive. Yes, I think that there are relationships like this. Evocative and great imagery.
