am i in flight? by Charlie Morganin the 7th grade Miss Thomas
talked about infinity,
how it'd be like we're on
a space ship that went on and on.
i think i'm on that trip,
though
my flesh and bones
mere carrying cases
for my soul.
my cousin the water buffalo
snorts more than me
but
he enjoys the same rules
and
regulations of a public
swimming hole:
we won't swim in your commode
so
don't pee in our pool.
only, water buffalos don't read.
even the trees shiver
when she takes
her light away
and stores it
in the cedar chest
of tomorrow.
so,night strolls by, a seasoned gambler,
rolling its stars low across the horizon
then spinning the milky way like a wheel.
...and man's 72 years?
nary a squint
in a blind man's eyes.
my dog and me chew our worlds.
both;
him, rubber toys,
me, pregnant words.

| Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 03/02/10 at 01:44 AM I can't believe you've given me a new favorite, but it is true. I may have met your cousin ()snort, snort). ;) This is clever, too true, and delightful. |
