how to rewrite history.

by Nanette Bellman

there's an unknown level of magnetism that attracts these types to me.
how negative and negative are drawn to each other will remain a mystery.
what's clear cut, is this can't happen again.
because the practical joker that history is,
will do anything to repeat itself
and it doesn't really care who gets in the way or who gets hurt.
it just preys on those weak ones
who claim to learn from their mistakes.
it knows that they'll never be that strong to resist the temptation
making bank on all the "just one more..."
or "after this time..." or "i'll never do it again.."
but today.
today is different. it is not the same.
today i will break the vicious circle
and put history in it's place.

i'm taking my life off "repeat"

For starters, I loved the title, as I usually do when it comes to your work. The poem didn't disappoint, either, but my one suggestion would be to change "an unknown level of magneticism." It sounded kind of awkward, and it took me a second to get into the flow of the poem as a result. Off the top of my head, I'd suggest, "there's a ruthless magnetism," but do as you see fit. :)

Very interesting piece. No; you cannot re-write history. What's done is done. IF I had the chance to go back and change things; I would. Unfortunately we do not have that option. Regrets; yes, I have many. Can I go back and fix the unfixable- NO! WONDERFUL write- thanks!

Great piece, love the personification of history, the 'battle' between the speaker and history is well played, well delivered, well received...nice addition, great title, peace, jewels

Really a strong beginning line. I liked history as a practical joker. You follow through in good order showing "how to" in this. Thank you.

...nanette, you've done it again...quite a cool write w/ years-ahead-of-you awareness of 'taking the bull by the horns'...bulldog that monster, tie its feet. good one nan.
