A Prayer For Your Aunt

by Joan Serratelli

I know that you
You love her
you always will
She died much
too young
You were not there
and that is
the root
of your guilt

You are consumed
with grief
Please realize that
you could not
have prevented it
It was a matter of
FATE
not your fault

And on this day
you cry,
you lit the candle,
quietly,
you still grieve
You ALWAYS will

She was a huge
part of your life
You will ALWAYS love her
more than anyone else

Let her rest in peace
She was here
with you
She heard you say
the Kaddish
She KNOWS
Your love is
acknowleged

She is in a
better place
She has no pain
You should understand
that she is here,
with you,
in your heart

She will remain here
She loves you
...and she always will

Author's Note: It happened a long time ago....'til this day; you are consumed with guilt. She knows. She wants you to be happy

This feels very complete, the participant, the observer, the possibility of change/acceptance.
