A Status Update to the Void

by Richard Colinson

The white box beckons
I am feeling lonely, upset and depressed
But I can't say that, I cannot mention
That your attention, once a gift so rich
Has been withdrawn

Perhaps an amusing link
Something about my life
If I ever did anything worthwhile
Or had anything worth saying

Better to have candor, anyways. Too many hilarious Facebook horror stories at this point. PS: Loved the poem.

To quote the very famous sentiment spawned from the Mail Art movement..."Senders Receive." If you've never read Saucer of Loneliness by Theodore Sturgeon, you should...it's one of my absolute favourite pieces of writing and I think you'd really enjoy it.

The tile captured me. And that first line as well. Your poem speaks the aversion we humans have to lingering in someone else's pain. Packs a punch. Thanks.
