Those Words by Ken HarnischRecall those words of passion
If you will. They ignited wildfires
In your younger days
And desire in my nights
You were perhaps a foil
For seductive ways
But your silences told me
My seed spilled on fields
That cried for sustenance
And how we dropped the rain
On fallow ground.
And how your sighs
Would echo mine
Though I heard them not.
And how your passion
Flamed me and brought me
To nirvana, though you
May not have known
How high I climbed with you
I opened doors, you said
That only now you look
Back on, tinged with half-regret
But for the fire born those nights,
You have never scolded me
And yes, I would whisper
In your ears again
To hear the hot sighs
Coursing through you
From variations of those words

Posted by Kristina Woodhill on 02/15/10 at 04:19 PM Really enjoyed your word choices here. "And how we dropped the rain" - "And how your passion
Flamed" - also liked how these two lines subtly rhyme. Thank you. |

Posted by Amie Golda on 02/19/10 at 02:16 AM I love that you consistently refer to fires, burning and flames as well as passion. You match these elements well together and create great imagery and vivid emotion. Well done (no pun intended)! |
