On the Road to Nowhere by Tony WhitakerOn the road to nowhere
Stumbling along I looked down
Finding myself staring
A cracked mirror looking back
Unfolding a face
Fascinated and frightened
Brilliance dimmed by knowledge
Heaven for those who care not
Blissful in their ignorance
While I looked for God
In weed, whites and wine
Turning away to the daily grind
While women fueled a fire for years
But found myself locked in space
Caring for another man’s daughter
So, as I await my time of dying
To run like hell to the slaughter
I guess I'll just stand here
Waiting for a ticket to ride

Posted by George Hoerner on 01/19/10 at 05:20 PM Great write Tony. I fear it reflects us all who thought we knew where we were going and only moved in circles every widening and now shrinking possibly to a point we don’t even understand. |
