In the stillness of Christmas morning

by Sigurdur Haraldsson

In the stillness
of Christmas morning
when all is resting
except my little
Drummer Girl
...
I awaken

12/25/2009

Author's Note: My sister-in-law gave my two year old daughter a (loud) drum and some other musical (hah!) instruments for Christmas. My daughter couldn't wait until everybody was up, she started banging (sorry, drumming) at eight o'clock this Christmas Day morning. P.S. In Iceland, we unwrap the gifts on Christmas Eve and like to sleep late on Chrismas Day (when possible).
