man of plain by Charlie Morgani's riding home, an hour ahead of schedule
that's my usual way to slap time around;
but i had to reset the clock to do it.
i wanted to be early for him this time.
he's busy; wanted some reading material;
i was not the one to keep the man hungry
and wanting for words, for thoughts.
he feeds that way; off knowledge.
his specs always on the tip of his nose.
reflecting the reflections of his wonder;
his refined harmonic balance with nature.
and he is that will of that wisp, a whim.
it'll be me that casts the waters full of words;
printed or gurgled, it will ring of dazzlement;
a freshly-born morning's sunlit mountain peak
catches him tossing words to the wind; they
float as feathers, winding into a spiral;
resting on his head as white-embered ashes.
it will be the plain man. he will be plainer, still.
12/13/2009 Author's Note: a nudge to Garth Hill, younger and older(wiser)poet-friend. the very harmonic balance of which i speak. there's a broken mold somewhere.

| Posted by George Hoerner on 12/13/09 at 08:02 PM I've thought too of the younger poets and their new language, ideas and fervor. And of course we'll be replace one day in the not too distant future. Tis better for all no doubt, but you still write with the best of 'em Charlie. |
| Posted by Glenn Currier on 12/16/09 at 05:04 PM When I read this and your author's note, I thought of you and Garth as Gemini, but I didn't trust my understanding of the sign, so I went to Wikipedia and found this: "Gemini is considered compatible with Libra, Aquarius and Gemini itself. These signs share an "airy" demeanor and are believed to relate..." Well, that about captures you two guys. I read "free" in Libra and "far out" in Aquarius - both of which both of you are - as is this pome. Maybe we will soon get a response from the other compatible spirit of which you speak. Thanks, Chaz. |
