On being the girl with too many problems, apparently.

by Jolie Jordan

I have never met a girl with so many problems, he says.
He says this meaning no harm, but he says this
and I become a dried up lake.

It is nearing our second winter together
And I have cold feet. I touch you like you should be touched
and I get nothing in return. I wrap you up in warmth
and I am left out in the cold.

Honestly,
I'm just getting really tired of trying to turn dirt into diamonds.
And this is hardly me giving up
This is me gladly admitting to defeat.
(This towel never felt so good to throw in, baby.)

Author's Note:

I'm tired of the city,
and the way cheap whiskey makes you fight me.

I'm tired of sleeping in all day and empty pockets.
I'm tired of being tired of this.

I'm tired of forgiving you just so that I can live with you.

Over it.

I like how you described everything in here as a comfort but identify it as a struggle. You're more than half way there now. Good luck and don't turn back now.

sounds like you're well out of that one. never undervalue yourself and never settle for the status quo instead of happiness again. please. *gigantic hug*

"I'm just getting really tired of trying to turn dirt into diamonds." Incredibly well said, and it's not out of place for that.

Sounds like he's one of the problems....

i'm into it. =) besides, a girl can never have too many problems. what else would we have to talk about?

I'm with Vince: the dirt into diamonds line sparkles, to coin a pun...but the whole poem succinctly tells the story of relationship failure and if i may say so, his loss

You say it all in the last line, stay true and stay strong. smh

Such a sad piece indeed :(

I realized on rereading that I forgot to rate this. That has been remedied. :)

This is "in the moment" art as poetry! Such honesty in the emotions which reaches right in and pulls out the readers still beating heart!
