Communion With Leaves by Glenn CurrierThe leaves seemingly spent of their glory
uproarious in their abandon
angle down the alley incited by winter
uncontained by the path
now a crowd of unloyal and fallen beings.
A feather of hawk
I infiltrate their insurrection
join their bluster
as defined and undefined
as each of these umber individuals.
They converse with the wind
drag their feet
scratch the gray slate until it bleeds
tickle each other to laughter
they love who they are.
I cannot find an ideology
as dear and diverse as this breezy assembly
none better to join
nor as splendid as kin
or friends or other unvanquished souls. 12/04/2009 Posted on 12/04/2009 Copyright © 2025 Glenn Currier

Posted by Charlie Morgan on 12/06/09 at 07:51 PM ...i was painting one day, and i painted something that wouldn't stay in the room, the studio, the roof. it floated off getting larger. isn't that weird? you wrote a pome one day and it took off, did the same thing as happened to me...this one is still going. glenn this is frameable. i stopped reading to catch up with the drive-by of which garth spoke, in the old folks lingo, boy, you outdid yerself. |
Posted by Quentin S Clingerman on 12/08/09 at 07:39 PM A lot of symbolism in this lively poem. Great write! (Wonder if this poem came to mind as you raked those pesky leaves?) |
