Jilted by Jared OrlandoI'm throwing paint into her eyes
To see her irises glow like northern lights
Her alchemy dripping upon the standing ground
Soft wisps of ecstasy towards open skies
A coming drum splits our views apart
As her brow is speeding burning bright
The collage of lipstick sweats and gasps
Giving the eastward sunrise its seeding start
If vanity bleeds on her breast aloud
Let it be known she’s my palette's master
Down the throat escaping bitter forking tongues
To thrill the heart to beating faster
I'd rather die than look away from her sun
As she lies over fiercely fiery winds
And as the earth falls way to the blackest of black
It's hard to see where beauty ends and she begins.

Posted by V. Blake on 11/25/09 at 09:14 PM This is so many kinds of beautiful. "Down the throat escaping bitter forking tongues / To thrill the heart to beating faster" are some extraordinary lines. Excellent write! |
Posted by Glenn Currier on 11/30/09 at 05:39 PM I read in a little dose of ambivalence in your poem, with a mixture of the stickiness of relationship and the physical aspects of romance. Those last two lines are brilliant and in a sense, they provide a foundation for the rest of the poem. Thanks for this brilliant piece. |
