shake them off by Charlie Morgani know this girl who wonders;
she wonders why people leave.
tho' when they walk up to her,
she spits vile and venom;
she's a girl gone wrong,
and right, she ain't.
yet a finger, her favorite,
is stuck up to the world.
eat this along with cake,
she spews and hates more.
a mirror would help her;
not the State Fair ones.
hers is already bent, unsightly.
yet she points at the sky and
hollers non-sense as 'tis
everybody's fault, not hers.
she's the snake who eats
her own tail, and belches
more venom. death come fast. 11/09/2009 Posted on 11/09/2009 Copyright © 2026 Charlie Morgan

| Posted by George Hoerner on 11/10/09 at 01:15 AM No doubt a very accurate write well done. It is amazing just how many people are like that but so many more feel the same and have just learned how to hide it. I'm not sure which I like the worst. |

| Posted by Joe David on 11/10/09 at 02:44 PM Oh Charlie, it is so sad. Maybe if she did more wandering and less wondering. But you did use the word venom twice so it must be important.
Makes me think of Junior Brown's song
"She's just venom wearin denim
She's a nightmare not a dream"
Of course, everything makes me think of a song and this one is not from the 30s.
Poem is well done and paints a hell of a picture of a distressed person in a lot of pain.

| Posted by Glenn Currier on 11/11/09 at 02:27 AM The title just got to me. How many have we known in our work who do just that. It seems we get our share of these shakers. Huh? And you especially come across them in their sticky darkness partly because of your role, but also because you are THERE for them even in their brokeness. Thanks for sharing your usual helping of honesty about what you see, my friend. |
