Leaves

by Joe Cramer

Quietly I pad through thick leaves
That are far flung from oaken trees,
Silently in this autumn day.

Slowly now I move along
As if I truly do belong
To this quiet land.

I look for you now
Though I know not how
To find you.

So now I move quietly on
Knowing not what is beyond
In that, which becomes my life.
