Song of the Gamelan

by Clara Mae Gregory

The shadow puppets
dance on the
timbre
of the song
of the Gamelan.
Toe tapping rhythms
lance the light
amber
in a Ballroom
of glass
where shadow puppets
absorb the resonance
of metal chambers
made of brass.

You sent me to Wikipedia on this one. I am glad. I had not heard of the Gamelan. Maybe one day I will hear some of this kind of music, but in the meantime I can be content with your lovely poem. I love music of all kinds and your poem sings and resonates. Thanks.

... so very wonderful, as is all of your poetry...
