Beautiful

by Shossana Dreyfus

Possessing such gift is a knowledge that few have privilege to.

Blessed with the advantage of being armed with such weapons
that elevate those elite ones of us, to access immeasurable power
transcending meaningless concerns such as the lack of freedom,
freedom of voice, we transform into undertaking fear and shame
to express what we feel, and everyone else knows to be true ...

That beauty is the highest form of genius

Because it needs no explanation and it cannot be contested
It is a true wonder that holds a divine right of sovereignty
and it is of the undeniable facts like spring, or orchids, or rain

We few who truly have it, capriciously command the world
casually conquering whilst offering no apology nor justification

“One of the great secrets of life: To cure the soul by means of the senses,
and the senses by means of the soul”

Wonderful creations, such immense power we effortlessly hold,
to when we reveal ourselves to ourselves, even time is envious
making what the gods give to us to be quickly taken away
And so this reality is ours to command for a short jealous era
in which we stumble on duty to not spoil our radiance with damage

But with every great gift comes the burden of a great curse.

Jealousy is a five-headed serpent that has but the will to destroy
It survives by savagely eating away at the heavenly bliss
that us beautiful learn to value, to cherish, to protect from wilt
To save its innocence as if it be an apple in the garden of Eden
as Jealousy slithers, consuming spirit and shaking our core

As cursed as one is to sustain a lifetime of bitter weariness
that births with the realization of the ever-present hidden motive...
the unwelcome knowledge that all these men just want to fuck me,
that there isn’t a kind word given without a dark, secret purpose,
that every instance of kindness is an opportunity to feed on me

But if I could only choose, through the horrors and hardships ... I’d still choose to be beatiful.

There is a level of that in all love between man and woman. It does not detract from love. It is nature’s way of continuing the species. This is a good write.

I think beauty is not a feature, it is an action. I think ugly is not a feature, it is an action. And what distinguishes beauty from ugliness is that one acts in the name of love and one acts in the name of love which goes unrequited. therein lies the difference. When one loves one possesses great beauty. when one does not, the opposite is true.
