crisis of belief

by Christel Crews

Artificial joy must be created
my entire spirit crushed
deep inside me whispers
its not enough

False hope makes my heart sick
a dagger thrusts into my dream
determined to continue on
hope dashed on the rocks of reality

10/29/2009

Author's Note: just something that came up tonight out of nowhere. struggling with some changes we must make in our little world and i'm not taking the change well, obviously...

Poignant, sense of loss strongly expressed.

this ode expresses powerfully how I feel about artifice when it comes to joy or any other human emotion. lest it is the genuine article it may as well go by the way side, because it misses the whole point of the human experience which must be real if it is to be anything worthwhile.
